Computex 2024: Antec

This year, Antec has got a lot going on, with their new cases being a prominent feature at Computex 2024, featuring a hint of wood in their design, which is a bit of a trend in recent years, but it’s hard to do, which is why it’s not so widely adopted by manufacturers. The Flux Pro adds a touch of wood to the front, which looks amazing, but the Flux Pro has a lot more going on.

It features support for the latest and greatest hardware, good airflow, a PSU shroud with removable filters and cooling mounts, and most interesting, a rotated PSU mount.

There’s a vertical GPU support mode, and tempered glass, RGB and all the usual things we expect in a premium case in 2024.

The PSU cable actually passes through, with the PSU rotated 90-degree, giving you all the side cable thrills of the new Corsair Shift PSU, but you can just use your normal ATX PSU, which is a fair bit cheaper!

The Flux Black/White is basically the same thing, but without the trick PSU feature and a little more affordable, and I like the lighter wood on the white version, albeit it looks a bit orange due to the room lighting. However, it still supports E-ATX motherboards, and comes with support for 420mm radiators too, which is pretty impressive as it looks surprisingly compact.

Then we have the C8 wood, a fairly common design for Computex 2024, with a pillarless design, E-ATX support, room for up to 3 x 360mm radiators (top, side and bottom), and a 120mm fan in the back. OF course, the wood strip on the side really makes it pop too, so this one gets a big thumbs up from me!

Then we have the C8 Curve, same thing, but dropping the wood panel and adding a single piece of curved glass for the front and left panel, very funky!

The C7 ARGB looks amazing, with E-ATX support again, but a rather unique trim design to complement the two tempered glass windows.

The Antec logo and I/O create a unique look, and the bottom shrouds are all fully removable and ventilated, meaning PSU shroud mounted cooling hardware can bring in some serious airflow.

But the star of the show for cases is their new mini-ITX solution, which isn’t final just yet, but it’s not far from production. The Performance 1M features aluminium construction, a high-airflow design, and a surprisingly modular design that will allow you to move and remove components of the case to allow you to install some pretty hefty hardware.

It looks fantastic, with that black and red giving it a modern/retro PC gamer vibe, which I love.

And yet despite the size, there’s an ASUS RTX 4090 TUF Gaming OC in here, one of the largest 4090’s on the market, an SF850X Gold SFX PSU, some Antec Tranquil 140mm Reverse fans, and even a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

Power Supplies

The new HCG Pro Platinum ATX 3.1 series comes with 80 Plus Platinum efficiency, ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 ready, all with 10-years warranty, and given the long-standing reputation of the HCG series, these should be pretty fantastic units, can’t wait to get them in for testing; they’ll be available in 850W, 1000W, and 1200W.

Fans

The new Orbit series of fans looks great too, with an FDB bearing, 2000 RPM, and 65.38 CFM and 31.6 dbA they’re ticking all the right boxes for cases and coolers.

However, I Think they’re just a little bit more interesting looking than a lot of fans, with a slightly softer more pillow like frame, infinity mirror on the motor, and surround RGB on the housing.

Black or white, they both look amazing!

Handheld

Of course, news broke of this new handheld before the show, so I won’t dive too much into it right now, but having finally gotten hands on with one, well, eight of them actually, as I went around the room and played each one with different games, and I have to admit, they’re pretty amazing bits of kit.

I’m not sure the full keyboard is needed, but hey, it certainly couldn’t hurt either, and I love the way I can angle and move the screen for better ergonomics and visibility.

We’ve got one inbound to the office, so expect in-depth coverage on this very shortly.
