Packaging & Accessories

To start with, the packaging, and I must admit, I love the way it looks. Antec has gone for a modern-retro vibe with the design, with the whole thing being designed to look like a VHS box, with matching graphics, even paying attention to printing on the inside of the box, and I love that attention to detail, as it looks really cool!

Even paying attention to printing on the inside of the box, and I love that attention to detail, it looks really cool!

On the inside we find Core HS itself, obviously with all of the usual documentation and the charger, which comes with a host of regional adapters to suit whatever country you live in, or may be travelling to. Of course, it’s Type-C anyway, so using any chargers or power banks you have laying around will keep you gaming for longer.

In terms of accessories, well they are actually sent separate to the device, rather than in the same box, likely to give consumers a choice or change themes without having to replace the whole packaging of the Core HS. This bundle, again which is region specific, and I know the whole of Europe is getting it as this bundle includes a carry case, which is obviously pretty important if you plan to use this on the go, a glass screen protector, which was surprisingly easy to install, a set of joystick caps to customise how it feels, and best of all it even comes with a dock allowing the functionality to be extended even further from what it can already do and it’s so simple to do.

Just place the Core HS in the dock, and you can simply use it as a Windows device, hooking up your keyboard, mouse, other peripherals, and a desktop display, and then you’re ready to rock.

This could be handy if you want something to game on while travelling, but also have something to do your work on when you get to where you’re going.

The dock also gives you extra storage through a micro SD and SD slot on the side along with USB type-C and type-A ports, HDMI and Ethernet, and the Core HS simply connects onto the type-C dock and away you go though one personal gripe I have is how it’s branded Ayaneo and not Antec, but I really am being picky at that point.

It comes with a glass screen protector, which was surprisingly easy to install, a set of joystick caps to customise how it feels, and best of all it even comes with a dock. A dock I hear you say? Yes a dock!
