Antec DF800 Flux – Dark League Mid-Tower Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Antec DF800 Flux Dark League mid-tower PC case is available now on Amazon for just £83.83, which is good value for money given the level of features. The fact it comes with 5 x 120mm fans, three of them are RGB, one of them is that unique reverse design too, and they’re all paired with a built-in control hub for fan speeds and RGB, it certainly adds to the value for money. There are dust filters throughout, and it’s just a nicely made case overall, so it’s pretty great value for money. It’s also broadly about the same price as many rival offerings, but I do appreciate the unique design of the DF800 Flux too.

Overview

Antec is a long-standing player in the case market, with decades of experience, and a pretty big fanbase of their own too. The DF800 Flux Dark League is a great addition to their range, and while they haven’t tinkered with the interior design too much, at least compared to what we would expect from any modern mid-tower, they are ticking all the right boxes here.

The case is surprisingly compact overall, but highly capable. It features six drive bays, so if you’re a big of a storage junky, it’s going to get the job done there, even if cable routing all that would be a bit of a pain. That being said, there’s good clearance behind the motherboard, and the PSU shroud offers up a little extra room to cram all your cable horrors out of the way.

The ventilation on the right-side panel, as well as that reverse fan, certainly adds to the appeal here. Is it going to make a huge difference? Well, any day that more airflow isn’t beneficial to a PC build, satan will by ice skating to work. With next-gen gaming GPUs and CPUs posting some truly shocking TDPs, I’d certainly be looking at Antec for their extra airflow. I suspect other case makers will be exploring similar options too. I’d love to get two reverse fans in there though, I prefer more fans at a lower RPM than fewer working harder, but that’s just me.

The RGB in the front looks great, and while I’m sure some would have liked to see RGB in the back fan too, I’m happy the way it is. Sometimes, well, most times, RGB is overdone, and having it on that front focal point is more than enough for me. The colours and effects look great, and the unique front panel design really gives it a cool and futuristic vibe.

Should I Buy One?

The Antec DF800 Flux Dark League is a clean and easy to work with PC case, with a surprisingly spacious interior despite the sensible form factor. It has plenty of practical dust filtering and additional cooling options throughout, making this a very appealing case. Not only is it great to look at, it’s very easy to work with too, but overall, the additional focus on cooling performance in response to increasing hardware TDPs makes this one of the more interesting cases in this price bracket!
