A Closer Look – Interior

Antec’s EarthWatts Platinum 450W power supply is built by FSP on their Aurum platform.

This unit uses a Yate Loon 120mm fan part number “D12BM-12”. This has a maximum RPM of 1700 with 72CFM and 34 dBA.

The main hold up capacitor is rated at 85°C, 420V and has 270µF capacitance.

The capacitors for secondary side filtering are mainly Nippon Chemicon and there is also a single Rubycon. These are all rated for 105 degrees. The design uses a DC to DC converter.

Heatsinks are relatively sparse and small because of this unit’s high efficiency.

At the rear we find the AC receptacle for the transient filtering stage.
