Antec EarthWatts Platinum 550W Power Supply Review

Introduction

When it comes to the Antec Earthwatts Platinum series efficiency is the order of the day. Antec’s Earthwatts Platinum series benefits from being one of a few 80 Plus Platinum power supply ranges available in, what we might term, more ‘mainstream wattages’ such as the 450w and 650w models we reviewed recently here and here. Typically other 80 Plus Platinum power supplies are of a more extreme/enthusiast stature such as Corsair’s AX1200i/AX1500i, Enermax’s Platimax series or Be Quiet’s Dark Power 10 850W.

With that said today we are taking a look at the Antec Earthwatts Platinum 550W power supply which is an affordable 80 Plus Platinum power supply with a wattage that can cater for the majority of mainstream and mid-range systems. The 550W Earthwatts Platinum shares all the same features of other power supplies in the series which includes a non-modular design, being based on the FSP Aurum platform and being compact in size.
