Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Although officially rated to 1000 watts of power output, it is never unusual that a PSU is capable of performing beyond that remit. We should note though, that this is definitely not recommended and users should always buy a power supply suitable for their components. Presuming things are pushed too hard, however, it’s important to know that the protections are in place to successfully turn your PSU off before any risk to it, or your components, presents itself.

So, how did the Antec HCG Gold perform? Well, achieving 350 watts over its rated amount of 1,000 is certainly impressive. We can, however, happily confirm that the OPP worked perfectly!
