In a cold load test we run the PSU in an open air environment to see what the unit is capable without the limiting factor of heat. We hook the PSU up to our load tester and measure the voltage of the various rails as well as measuring the efficiency.
I was extremely impressed with the results this unit provided! The 12V rails never drop below the target voltage even at 100% load, and when faced with a small load, the voltages did not go particularly high as they do on most other units- good quality VRMs are usually a sign of general high quality. The efficiency is also impressive, lets not forget that this is a 1200W unit, so to achieve 80+ Gold is a feat in itself!
