A Closer Look – Exterior

Power Supply Unit

The Antec HCG is an extremely beefy unit for its wattage, overall the aesthetics are very clean so this will suit most builds.

Both sides feature the same Antec branding but in reverse to support different mounting positions.

The front has all your modular connectors which are handily labelled by which 12 volt rail they are assigned to. Antec also offer an OC link connector which allows you to operate two of the Antec HCP power supplies simultaneously by using the provided cable, this is definitely a server grade feature imported through Delta Electronics.

On the base there is a sticker detailing the breakdown of amps and watts across all the rails.

Around the back a large Antec logo dominates the design, we also find a kettle lead input and power switch – a fairly standard rear PSU layout.

Cabling

The entire PSU features modular cables which have an interesting design, they are half black and half coloured. The quality of the sleeving is fairly average but the dominance of the black makes everything look tidy even if there is some colour on show. The yellow “PSU Only” labels can be removed from the cables, these are there to ensure you don’t plug the power supply end of the cables into your system. The first set of modular cables includes the motherboard 24 pin, a CPU 8 pin and four PCIe 6+2 pins.

Next up we have three cables with three SATA connectors on, an OC link cable, one cable with three molex on and a final cable with three molex and one FDD on.
