Antec Kuhler H2O 1220 Liquid CPU Cooler Review

The Asetek mounting kit with the Antec Kuhler H20 1220 is very good, it gives a very firm mount and is relatively simple. The only things to watch out for are: making sure the screw holes in the backplate are pushed firmly in (if they are not they will just turn round and round as you screw and not secure properly) and, if you are mounting on LGA 1155, don’t be put off by the fact the backplate is very “wonky” when lined up with the holes – it still works perfectly well. The provided instruction manual gives simple and clear instructions so refer to that as first preference.

From the top of the Antec Kuhler H20 1220 you can see it conforms to a very simple all-black design.

The 240mm radiator uses a 27mm single thickness design.

The 240mm radiator is entirely aluminium and features mounting points for two 120mm fans on either side with 15mm spacing.

The included 120mm fans from Antec do 600 to 2400 RPMs and include all black 4pin PWM cables. They have been specifically shortened to reduce cable clutter because the pump features integrated 4 pin ports where the fans can be plugged into.

The pump is a standard Asetek design featuring Antec branding. It includes a two 3 pin power connections (one for the pump, one for the fans), four 4 pin female fan headers to control up to four fans and a USB 2.0 cable to allow you to access the provided Antec fan control software.

The base/contact-plate is all copper and features pre-applied thermal paste for easy installation.

With the fans installed the design is plain and simple giving the opportunity to sit discretely in the maximum number of systems out there. If you are looking for a more colourful design then you can easily add your own fans.

With the fans added the total unit thickness rises from 27mm to 52mm.
