Antec Mobile Products A.M.P. Mobile Power Roundup Review

PowerUp 6000 & 2200 Slim

For me, these are super vital tools for my smart phone, I’ve actually not stopped using the Antec PowerUp 3000 since the day I reviewed it and its great to be able to give my phone or tablet some extra power when I’m out an about. So with that in mind, how does the 6000 compare? Well, it’s literally twice as good in my mind, While it is a little larger, its perfect for keeping stored in your bag, glove box, or even just at work for those times when you really need it. Its capable of holding charge for ages and when it comes to it I have had it charge my HTC One X+ from 0% to 100% in about 40 minutes and the 6000 didn’t even drop below 50% charge. Should I need to I can get a full charge twice over, or charge while also playing games for a few hours. It will also fully charge my tablet and smart phone at the same time, although this kills the battery supply in about 1 hour, although having both my devices at 100% is obviously going to last me a lot longer than an hour anyway.

The 2200 slim can’t handle that much power drain of course, but when your phone dies, any power is good power and I’m still able to get a full charge from the 2200, but only once. It is however lighter and quicker to charge back up again on an evening, so this is a worthy sacrifice in terms of performance as not everyone is going to need something as powerful as the 6000 to get them through the day.

USB Car Adaptor

I don’t really have much to say about this in terms of performance, other than it does exactly what it says on the box, it provides two USB ports in the car that I can confirm will charge my phone and tablet. Personally I find it handy to be able to run the sat-nav from one port and keep my phone charging on the other.

4 Port USB Charging Station

This is the one item that I am the most interested in, I’m always looking for plug sockets, ports and such like to charge my devices, given that I have tablets, a couple of smartphones, MP3 players and more of both my own and my girlfriends to keep alive on a daily basis, it can become quite a challenge to keep them all powered up for when I need them.

With this, I can use a single plug socket and charge all the devices at once, although I have found it even more practical to have our smartphones charging on the 1A ports, the tablet on the 2A and the PowerUp 6000 on the last 2A, now I’m charged up when I’m at home and have all the power I need when I’m out and about too!

It doesn’t have a “performance” as such, it just does what it does very well, you plug it in, you can hook up all your devices and it certainly stops you from filling all your plug sockets with a range of different chargers and power converters, which is most likely less energy-efficient that using the one hub charger instead.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
