Antec NX230 Mid-Tower PC Case Review

Complete System

The Antec NX230 Mid-Tower PC Case is about as uncomplicated as they come, which meant that the whole installation process went really smooth. There’s no crazy features here to worry about, heck, even the cable routing is just holes rather than grommets. However, the end result still looks great, with good cable management, and plenty of room for all our hardware and this certainly isn’t a moddest build.

I went for a smaller Noctua cooler than usual, but in retrospect, a larger U12 or something similar would have fit without issue too. I did manage to fit a wider ATX motherboard than spec though, which did cover some of cable routing holes, but there were still more available to me. I’m very pleased with the clearance for the motherboard 8-pin cable though, it passed right through, and often on cheaper cases this is strangely covered up a bit by the motherboard.

There’s plenty of room in the front, well, I say plenty, that all depends on the length of your GPU. With our Vega 56 in here, I’d say there’s room for a slim radiator and a single layer of fans up in the front. Of course, what you choose to put in there is really up to your own requirements.

The only issue was no vertical cut-out for GPU power cables. But it’s hardly a major issue.

With all the panels back in place, the NX230 looks pretty good. Now, the side is plastic and literally the moment I took the plastic off, dust found a way to be on it. Tempered glass would be nice, but it would simply be more expensive.

At least we can now see that lovely RGB lighting on the front panel. It looks really cool, and far better than a case in this price bracket has any business having.

The colours are really vivid and easily visible even in our brightly lit room. You can cycle the colours using the button on the front panel too, nice and easy.

Knightrider bouncing lights, colour changes, fades, blinks, and of course, rainbow. It’s got them all!
