Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Although officially rated to 1000 watts, it’s never unusual in any power supply to see that things can be pushed beyond this point. For the average consumer, going beyond the rated amount is, of course, never advisable. You should always pick a PSU wattage that is appropriate for your components while allowing a solid bit of wiggle room for any potential further upgrades. Wiggle room, however, for the Antec Signature is certainly something of an understatement.

In our OPP testing, it successfully achieved a wattage output of 1,382 before the protections successfully kicked into place to prevent any potential damage from occurring. Given that this figure is nearly 30% above the rated amount, this is, without a doubt, impressive!
