Antec Soundscience Halo 6 LED Bias Lighting Kit Review

I’ve been using this lighting kit on my monitor for a few days now and I am really happy with the way it works. It provides a great way of lighting up my desk area on an evening without having the larger room lights on, but also adds a little extra light on the dull overcast days that we’ve been having here in the UK (all 365 of them).

In my opinion it does make the screen easier on the eyes, which might not sound much but when you’re sat in front of the screen 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week, every bit of comfort goes a long way. It definitely improves the visuals on the screen too, it maybe just in a subtle in direct way but overall I enjoy having the lights enabled while gaming, writing and browsing the web. It just doesn’t look the same with them disabled.

As I said at the start of the review I use the much larger edition of the Bias lighting kit on my TV, which we use daily while gaming on the big screen, watching movies and just general watching TV on an evening. It provides just enough light to create a comfortable viewing environment while all other lights in the room are turned off, making it perfect for movie night. The same can be said for the smaller 6 light kit, while it doesn’t give off as much light due to it being smaller, it’s overall effect is just the same.  I can’t see any reason why I will be removing it from my monitor any time soon, so this really is a product that is the editors choice.

It’s small, it’s inexpensive as around £10 and it does exactly as advertised, but here is where you can have some fun with it. Sure it can be fitted to a PC monitor, or a larger version for your TV but this kit isn’t unlike the strip lights you can buy for you PC chassis. The technology is the same as the lighting kits Antec, BitFenix, NZXT and a few others make for PC chassis modification and given that it’s only USB powered I see no reason why you couldn’t use this in the same way.

Fit it to your monitor, back of your laptop, in side or under you PC case, or as a more practical solution it sticks to the back of your PC chassis or home entertainment system quite well, allowing you to flick the lights on in those dark areas behind your system when you need to connect those pesky USB and HDMI cables, as with any modification product, I’m sure there are a many other uses but for this time around, it’s a great thing to have on the back of your monitor. I am more than happy to award it with our eTeknix Editors Choice Award.
