Anycubic Kobra Max 3D Printer Review

How Much Does It Cost?

The printer comes in at £432 or $569 on the Anycubic website and £455 or $599 on Amazon, making it a pretty cheap option, whilst not the cheapest overall printer out there, it is one of, if not the cheapest printer that can produce this level of detail with this size print bed.

Overview

Something that struck me about this printer is that it doesn’t feel like it was designed to be the be all and end all printer that Prusa tries to be, it tries to fill a bit more of a niche, it appeals to those who want to be able to print larger models easily but still want enough detail for different projects. To be clear, the detailing is impressive on it but when compared to the Prusa it doesn’t quite hold up, but that is an unfair comparison honestly, the Prusa costs more for a smaller print area, so the greater details comes with the territory.

As far as I am concerned, the detail achieved on the printer is impressive for the price of the printer and will make many customers happy, and on one hand I see this printer as very friendly to people new to the 3D printing scene with very few issues that could cause a major problem for someone, but whilst I see it as user friendly I think a new user would be intimidated by the sheer size of the printer, its a big machine to take care of.

Overall this printer is pretty impressive, whilst it did have some issues, lots of them could be fixed with firmware updates or were issues all 3D printers face. Whilst it has some minor gripes that aren’t fixable with firmware, they aren’t deal breakers, especially for what this printer costs. I think many people will be happy with this printer, if they are looking for something for large prints then I’m not sure you can get a better deal and if you want detail then the price is pretty cheap in all honesty when you consider how big you can make a print with that level of detail.

Should I Buy One?

If you haven’t used a 3D printer before and want to get into 3D printing or are looking for an extra large printer then I would absolutely recommend this printer, it is easy to use and gives very good results making it good for beginners but still good enough for someone who has experience with 3D printers. You will be making a few compromises in convenience and detail but again, at the price you are getting one hell of a package here.
