Display Analysis
Right out of the box, the settings on this monitor are surprisingly excellent. It hits 100% of sRGB, but also 93% of DCI-P3, which is way above the expected 89% that AOC claimed it would, so I’m pretty pleased with this result, as the colours look excellent.
The tone response was right on the money, hitting the ideal Gamma 2.2 on the stock profile. The monitor has multiple Gamma profiles, but there’s really no need to tinker with the settings here.
Even the grey ramp is excelled, with a small deviance at 15-25%, which is pretty normal, and then it’s otherwise pretty smooth from there on. So again, top marks from me!
Normally, if a monitor isn’t well calibrated out of the box, I’ll perform a full calibration, but that seems like overkill when the calibration tool costs double what the monitor costs. Alas, there’s really no need, with anything under 5 Delta-E being good, under 3 is great, and this monitor is largely under 1, with the only obvious exception being the 1F Blue, but to the human eye, the colours look stunning right out of the box, so no changes are needed for a great experience.
