Performance

First impressions are very good, with a nice bright image that has brilliant-looking colours and clarity. AOC claim this monitor can hit around 90% of the DCI-P3 colour space, which is very good for this price range, but of course, I’ll be testing that in just a moment.

The colours really do pop, without looking unnaturally over-saturated, and both black and white levels look even across the whole panel.

For kicking back and watching a bit of Uncle Rojer on YouTube, I found it very pleasing, with good colour, motion handling and brightness.

For doing some actual work, eTeknix looked great, with it again showing great black levels, but still retaining good brightness and clarity on text and images.

At 27-inch the panel is a good size for daily productivity, and the 2560×1440 resolution makes it easy to read smaller text when using multiple windows.

For gaming, this monitor is an absolute beast, and while there are more extreme refresh rates on the market, you’ll be hard-pushed to find that 180Hz isn’t enough. Personally, I’m happy with anything above 100HZ/FPS, but the reduced input latency at 180Hz is certainly a bonus for competitive gaming but also makes single-player experiences just feel tighter and more responsive too.

Of course, taking pictures of your gameplay while playing Conquest is going to get you shot in the face… just like it did me, sorry team!

Fortnite, Counter-Strike, Battlefield 2042, Forza Motorsport, and so many of the games I played all ran so smoothly, with no ghosting or unwanted issues, and the Adaptive Sync worked perfectly on my RTX 4090, making for a clear image free from stutters without the need for V-Sync.

For movies, again, the colours looked very good, with no noticeable banding and natural-looking reds, greens and blues with no over-saturation.

The sun is very bright today too, so there is a glare on the screen from my nearby window, but as you can see, it’s doing a pretty decent job of diffusing any reflections, making it very usable even on a bright day.
