How Much Does it Cost?
The AOC AGON AG352UCG6 35″ Ultra-Wide 120 Hz G-Sync Gaming Monitor is available now. In the UK, the price is currently £729.95 down from £807.60. Readers in the US can find it for around $800. That’s a heck of a lot of money for a display. However, just in terms of raw size, you’re getting a lot for your money.
Overview
I really like this monitor, and I can see why it would appeal to a lot of gamers. Admittedly, it’s obviously not going to appeal to everyone. For some, it’s simply too big to put on their desk, and perhaps too big for their wallet to handle too.
It’s not an IPS or highly calibrated professional monitor either. While it’s superb for daily productivity in my line of work, it’s unlikely to end up in a professional photography studio. However, I must admit that I’m pleasantly surprised by the colours and contrast ratios out of the box. For your typical high-end PC gamer, you’ll find a lot to love about the picture quality.
The 4ms+ response time isn’t ultra-fast either. For me, it’s absolutely fine. However, I play Elder Scrolls Online, Civ VI, Tomb Raider, and emulators a lot. I’m not a pro gamer. That being said, it’s not a display format often favoured by eSports anyway and AOC do make “faster” panels for that market.
Gaming
For enthusiast PC gamers, dropping this kind of coin on a monitor may not be a big issue though. However, keep in mind, you’ll want a beefy system to take full advantage of the increased resolution and refresh rates. This is especially true in the latest graphically intensive games. Furthermore, if you want G-Sync, well you obviously need an Nvidia graphics card.
The benefits are there though. High refresh rates, loads of pixels, and a massive panel. It all adds up to one heck of a fun gaming experience. The screen wraps around you ever so slightly, allowing you to really get involved in the on-screen action.
Should I Buy One?
That’s a tricky one, it’s a pretty niche product based on size and price alone. However, if I ordered one, I certainly wouldn’t regret it. The panel is great, and you’ll reap big rewards in everything from productivity to playing the latest games. Just be sure your desk is wide enough to house it, it’s a monster.
