How Much Does it Cost?

Big panels come in at big prices, and that’s no secret. However, at £1799.99 at the time of writing, this is certainly one of the most expensive out there. Albeit, it was actually £1999.99 at launch, so the price has come down a fair bit. It may seem very expensive (well, it is), but it’s a very advanced panel and you’re going to pay every bit of the premium if you want the absolute best.

Overview

AOC set out to make one of the best monitors on the market today and boy did they smash that goal. This absolute unit of a monitor ticks every enthusiast box with relative ease. So what are the biggest hitters here? I mean, it’s obviously bloody enormous, and it has the fantastic resolution of 3440 x 1440. However, AOC make monitors with those two features for half the price, so what gives?

Having a panel in this format that also hits 200 Hz is a big deal, albeit, you’ll want a truly monstrous GPU to hit that frame rate at this resolution. However, it also has G-Sync, so it’s going to firmly appeal to the high-end Nvidia RTX gaming crowd specifically. You also get HDR with 1000 Nits peak, ensuring movie-levels of high-end HDR performance from this panel. That’s all done with an impressive 2ms response time too, making it a viable option for many enthusiast gamers, which is the exact market it’s aimed at. Not to be confused with eSports, but just at home gamers who want to be blown away while they play the latest games.

Calibration

Out of the box, it’s one of the best performing monitors I’ve tested. It scored a perfect 5/5 for colour gamut and tone response. The Gamma was extremely close to 2.2, and the greyscale was excellent. Furthermore, while we did calibrate it, I managed to get the colour accuracy from a 4/5 to a 4.5/5 on the Sypder Calibrator, but it was subjective, as the colours really popped on both. I’d say leave it at stock, it looks fantastic and was within a good enough Delta-E for most professional video/image editing!

Should I Buy One?

The AOC AG353UCG 35” is an absolute joy to play games on. While I’m still a 4K fan myself, and quite happy with 16:9 format for most of it, I had the desktop space for the AOC AG353UCG 35”, I’d happily have one of these on my desk. If you want a really immersive desktop gaming and movie experience, as well as a vast canvas of display to work on, this is one of the finest examples out there, but it’s got a price tag to match its exceptionally high performance.
