AOC GAMING 27G2SPU 165Hz IPS Monitor Review

A Closer Look
The AOC GAMING 27G2SPU is a nice enough monitor, nothing too crazy, but it has a few design points that make it looks and feel a little more gamer than their more toned-down productivity/office models. The most notable being a few subtle hints of red, which is their standard design for their AGON series. The bezel on the top, left and right sides are extra slim, not that that’s uncommon these days, but it’s still always welcome to see. Of course, it’s great news for those running multiple monitors too. The bottom bezel is pretty slim too, which is great! Plus, you’ll find a range of control buttons on the underside too; they’re actual buttons, not touch controls.
Around the back, you can see there are a fair few more red highlights. This isn’t a premium exterior case design for a monitor, it’s pretty basic in the grand scheme of things, but it has been dressed up well and I can appreciate that. If you have an open desk layout, you’ll appreciate the tidy look back here. The monitor is VESA-compatible and comes with a quick-release mount on the included stand. If you want to wall mount this or use your own stand, you can certainly do that.
That being said, it’s a nice stand, with a small, but supportive X-shaped stand, and allows for a good range of height adjustment.
You can lift it pretty high, and tilt it back and forward to suit your needs. There’s also some left-to-right pivot.
Then there’s my favourite detail, you can spin it around into portrait mode, which I love using for editing my reviews.
Overall, it’s really ticking all the right boxes here, with great ergonomics and decent build quality.
