I’m sure many gamers out there really want a 4K ultra-high refresh late and enormous gaming monitor. However, realistically, that’s going to cost an absolute fortune and it’s likely more than what people need. AOC’s latest monitor is a lot more down-to-earth, but it still packs some tasty features that are going to make it a great starting point for those wanting to get competitive with their PC gaming. AOC has been on a roll with bringing killer features to much more affordable price points recently, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what the AOC GAMING 27G2SPU is really capable of!
It features a Full-HD display, that’s 1920×1080 resolution. Sure, that’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a resolution we’re all very familiar with and on a 27-inch display, it’s got a decent enough pixel density. Plus, it’s going to be easier to push your games harder and at higher detail settings than it would at 1440, or even 4K (obviously). However, it sports an impressive 1ms response time (MPRT), a speedy 165 Hz refresh rate, and Adaptive-Sync (48-165) for a silky smooth image. It’s also an IPS panel, which promises “lifelike yet brilliant and accurate colours” however, AOC doesn’t provide any specifications on the colours on their site (% of sRGB, Adobe-RGB, DCI-P3, etc). Of course, I’ll run a calibration test myself, and we’ll see what’s what!
“Competitive gamers will love this colour-accurate 27″ IPS display with its smooth 165 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms MPRT response time and AdaptiveSync. Comes with a frameless design with red accents. A 165Hz refresh rate, well over twice the industry standard of 60Hz, makes games run smooth as silk. Realize the potential in your graphics card. Forget screen tearing and forget motion blur. Feel your reflexes become one with the action. Never look back.” – AOC
