AOC GAMING U27G3X Gaming Monitor Review

AOC has one of the broadest range of gaming monitors on the market, with a model for every budget, resolution, refresh rate, screen size and just about every other factor you can think of. At 27″ the new AOC U27G3X is a nice sweet spot for gaming, offering a good size without the added cost of a larger monitor. However, don’t be fooled, as this monitor still isn’t overly cheap, costing up to $500! Of course, for that money, you’ll be expecting it to be packing some serious hardware, and you would be right.

AOC GAMING U27G3X

The 27″ panel features an impressive 3840×2160 (4K) resolution, which I think is a little high for 27″, but on the plus side, the pixel density is going to be pretty amazing, and with fantastic colour reproduction right out of the box the image should be very detailed. However, it also features a 160Hz IPS panel with a 1ms response time, but also a dedicated 120Hz mode for use with consoles. Keep in mind, that 4K and 160Hz is no easy task, so you’ll need a pretty potent gaming PC to get the most out of this one.

Features

  • A pixel response time of 1ms MPRT means speed without the smear for an enhanced gaming experience. Fast-moving action and dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of ghosting.
  • DisplayPort offers ultra-fast digital audio and video transmission without quality loss or input lag. Quickly and easily connect a range of devices to your screen, including your computer, laptop, media player, game console and more. It’s Suitable for professionals as well as the most demanding home users.
  • HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is supported by the current gaming consoles, current GPUs, set-top boxes, supporting the HDCP digital content protection system. HDMI 1.3-1.4b versions support up to 144 Hz refresh rate@1080p and 75 Hz@1440p, while HDMI 2.0-2.0b versions support 240Hz@1080p, 144Hz@1440p and 60 Hz@2160p (4K).
  • Adaptive Sync aligns your monitor’s vertical refresh rate with the frame rate delivered by your GPU, making your gameplay and casual gaming experience even more fluid by eliminating stuttering, tearing and judder. This feature is also useful when enjoying videos and other visual media, for a smoother entertainment.
  • NVIDIA G-SYNC Flicker-free technology
  • Equip yourself with twice the frame rate of other monitors and say goodbye to image stuttering and blurry motion. With a 160Hz refresh rate every frame is rendered sharply and in smooth succession, so you can line up your shots accurately and appreciate high speed races in all their glory.
