AOC GM530 Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?
Honestly, at just £35.99 I find it hard to imagine you can get a better quality or better-performing mouse for the same money or less. This is exceptional value for money. I think AOC simply charge less for their peripherals as it’s not wholly what they’re known for as a brand. Their monitors are their real legacy, and they’ve only released a handful of peripherals in recent years. However, if they maintain this level of quality and gain some popularity, I would expect to see some more premium options from them in the future too. The MM300XL was sold out at the time of writing, but prices should be in the region of £30.
Overview
The AOC GM520 Gaming Mouse doesn’t really innovate or push the boundaries in terms of hardware or performance. However, for most gamers, I can’t see that you would really need much more than what is on offer here. The aesthetics are decent, it’s a good-looking mouse, even if it doesn’t look much different from what other brands have done a hundred times before.
They’ve got a decent RGB lighting integration with a good range of effects. Perhaps not on the level of say, Corsair, but if you want a rainbow, or just set your favourite shade of pink for example, you’ll hardly be left wanting for more here.
The software is easily one of the most usable on the market and works for the entire product range of AOC peripherals and monitors, so you don’t need to clutter your OS with trashy peripheral software if you don’t want to. Furthermore, the mouse has onboard storage, so you can configure the settings, save to the mouse, and uninstall the software if you really want to.
They’ve used well-known, well-tested, and reliable components too. The 80M Rated Kailh switches have a nice snappy click to them, and feel very responsive. As does the fantastic PixArt 16,000 DPI optical sensor, which has a really good DPI range, can track at 400 IPS and 50G acceleration, it has a low lift-off height making it really well suited for daily work and gaming tasks.
I love that it has Nvidia Reflex support too, it’s one of the cheapest mice to offer this, and I’ll be getting an AOC monitor review on the go soon and testing that out with this mouse as soon as possible!
Should I Buy One?
If you’re looking for a comfortable gaming mouse that feels comfortable in your hand whether you use a palm rest grip or a claw grip, or a hybrid of the two, you’ll be more than happy with the AOC GM530. It’s a little on the heavier side at 100 grams compared to the nimble ultra-lights that are dominating the market these days, but it moves really well on a range of gaming surfaces, and at this price, I am more than happy with everything that it has to offer. It’s got all the features you could want from a good quality gaming mouse and a price that’s going to be hard to beat.
