Philips has just revealed their latest monitor, the P27779VC, a 27-Inch PLS monitor which comes equipped with Qi charging built right into the stand. While it’s not the first monitor to do so, it’s still a welcome addition to their range for those who not only want a new monitor but also want to cut down on a little bit of cable clutter on their desktop.
I personally keep my phone sitting on my monitor base all day while I’m working, and do you know what it’s not doing? It’s not charging my phone… wasted space! Having Qi built-in to the stand would be a welcome addition, assuming you have a Qi charging compatible device of course.
The 27-inch panel is equipped with a 1920 x 1080 PLS panel, with one VGA and two HDMI 1.3 inputs. There’s a 178-degree viewing angle, true 8-bit colour depth, and a huge 20,000,000:1 contrast ratio. With a 5ms response time, it’s not the fastest monitor on the market when it comes to gaming, but certainly within a comfortable range for most gamers, and with the promise of rich colour accuracy, it should be great for day to day work and editing too.
The monitor is set to launch in the US this month, and AOC say it’ll be in stock at Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg with an MSRP of just $250.
Will this be your next monitor? Personally, I would need something with Qi and 4K resolution, but at least there are more models like this coming to market. Let us know in the comments below!
