This is a pretty stock-looking monitor, which I can appreciate. The gaming monitors can be quite loud in design, in fact, that’s especially true of the AOC AGON series, which have a logo that projects on your desk, ambient RGB lighting, and a black and red frame… that is cool, but overkill and distracting when you’re trying to get through daily zoom meetings.
This is obviously pretty understated, with a black to dark grey, but if you’re sticking this in your home office, living room, dining room, or wherever you set up to work from home, it’s going to blend in relatively well, while also being a tidy enough design is not an eyesore.
There’s a front-facing control panel, all with proper buttons and they’re all labelled too, so getting to display settings, volume, power and more is going to be easy enough to do, even for the less technically minded office users.
The stand is nice, with a small footprint, so it’s not going to cause issues with mouse or keyboard placement, and there’s a cable routing hole in the middle too, which can help keep your desk space tidy.
There is a good quality webcam built right into the display, but of course, you’ll need to hook up the included USB cable that runs from the monitor to your system. However, this also means you can use the USB hub on the monitor too, so that’s a win-win.
I love that the camera can be tilted, but also folded away for privacy; very neat!
There are USB ports on the side, so you can quickly hook up a USB drive, mouse, or other peripherals. However, there are some additional ports on the back of the monitor, which support USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, and the monitor also supports USB Fast Charge.
Next to that, you’ll find a pair of HDMI 1.4 ports and a single DisplayPort 1.2.
Two things I always love to see, it supports a standard power cable and there’s a master power switch, so there’s no external power brick, and let’s be honest, nobody likes those power bricks.
