AOC Unveil Two New Frameless Monitors – One With Crystal Bling!

AOC recently unveiled two new frameless monitors, and one of them features some pretty unusual(?) bling. The two new monitors are part of its Q2781 range, and have the model numbers Q2781PQ and Q2781PS.

Whilst the monitors are identical in spec, their appearances are not. The Q2781PS features a rose gold coloured base, with Swarovski crystals at the back, whereas the Q2781PQ features a silver coloured stand, but lacks the bling.

These choices of styling will certainly be a Marmite moment, whilst the Swarovski crystals serve absolutely no purpose, there will be someone out there who will be willing to pay more for it, for reasons I’ve yet to think of.

It will be safe to assume that out of the two monitors, the one without the Swarovski crystals will surely be better received.

Both monitors feature a 27″ frameless screen, an AH-IPS panel and a resolution of 1440p(@60Hz). Connection wise, both monitors feature D-Sub, displayport and 2xHDMI. There’s also a 3.5mm jack on the rear, although this is a feature that could have probably been skipped, it’s there anyway.

The monitors have a 178/178 viewing angle and feature a range of ‘smart features’, such as e-saver and Flicker-free technology, which, according to AOC;

“reduce your power consumption and minimize eye strain.”

Maximum brightness of the monitors is 350 cd/m2 and have a response time of 4 ms.

The talking point of these two monitors will be the choice of styling, whilst one is rather reserved and more like your typical monitor, the addition of Swarovski crystals and rose coloured base to the Q2781PS will for certain divide opinion.

The current aesthetics of the monitors in the Q2781 range are rather stylish, sleek and simple, although the design choice of the base means the height cannot be adjusted, they are still very attractive monitors. It is yet to be seen how these additions to the lineup will look, and how well they will be received.

Would you buy a monitor with bling? Or would you rather give it a complete miss?
