Performance

Thanks to the IPS panel, the monitor looks absolutely fantastic. I’ve got it next to my Samsung QLED monitor (left) and the AORUS (right) looks pretty solid next to it. The black levels are good, there are no big issues with backlight bleed or torching either. It handles reflections well too, it’s pretty bright in here, but the peak brightness of the monitor sits around 400 nits, so that’s clearly not an issue.

165 Hz is a LOT of refresh rate. In fact, you’ll need a pretty hefty gaming rig to get close to that at 1440p with good settings. That being said just being above 60 FPS feels pretty fantastic, and with G-Sync or FreeSync options, you’ll not suffer any screen tearing issues from having any FPS variances. For FPS games, it’s a game-changer having such silky smooth motion. However, I find it’s great for PVP in Elder Scrolls Online. When there are 100+ people ripping around the screen, having no motion blur really makes it easy on the eyes.

Of course, being 1440 it’s great for productivity too, with enough resolution and a decent panel size to fit at least two windows side by side quite comfortably.
