AORUS Gaming K7 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

The Gigabyte AORUS Gaming K7 RGB Mechanical Keyboard is available from all the usual big retailers. However, we found it on Amazon for just £89.99, which is pretty fantastic value for a keyboard of this calibre. That’s about £20 less than some of its main rivals spec for spec, at least when you stick to the big brand names, not the lesser known import brands.

Overview

There’s not really a huge amount to say about this keyboard, as AORUS have played it pretty safe with this one. Of course, that’s a smart move, as it’s a keyboard and you don’t need to reinvent the wheel here. Equipped with Cherry MX Red mechanical switches, you know you’re getting great performance from the moment you take it out of the box. Of course, there’s plenty of other features here that are sure to put a smile on any PC users face too.

Build Quality

As I said, mechanical switches are the hallmark of premium quality keyboards. However, AORUS went the extra mile here by added a durable aluminium chassis that gives the keyboard exceptional durability. The cable is nice and strong too, but a detachable one would have been even better; hardly a deal breaker though. One thing that does really stand out, however, is that unique leg design. Using a turnable dial to adjust the leg height and keyboard angle is a nice touch, and it feels more robust than kickstands ever have.

Aesthetics

This keyboard is equipped with pre-key RGB LED lighting. Of course, this means that your imagination can roam free with the configuration, and it’s easy to dial in your favourite settings using the software or flick through profiles and effects from the keyboard shortcuts. I don’t like the whole rainbow wave stuff, but full RGB means I can easily pick my single favourite colour and leave it there. Furthermore, you can always dim or turn them off when required.

Should I Buy One?

This level of build quality, with Cherry MX switches, brushed aluminium, those cool height adjustable feet, the custom keycaps, the RGB lighting, all of this adds up fast. For a keyboard under £100, it offers all the features you find on most keyboards over £100. With that in mind, this is a fantastic product and is sure to be a big hit with AORUS fans and PC gamers alike. I’d have this in my gaming room, I’d have it in the office, it’s just a great keyboard no matter where you put it.
