The Aorus M3 is a nimble and compact mouse, and with those durable rubber grips on the side, you can really get a firm grip on it, even when using fingertip grip. While the mouse can be used in palm rest, it’s stubby design does tend to work better for a fingertip, claw, or hybrid grip, rather than palm rest. Of course, everyone’s hand size is different, so your mileage may vary here.
Whatever grip you choose, you’ll find the mouse feels nice and rigid, and easy to control. Thanks to the smaller surface area on the base, and the three large slipmats, it glides great even on both hard and softer gaming surfaces. However, I did find that some small jitter was introduced on the sensor on thicker padded gaming mats, although that’s not uncommon for many mice.
The buttons have a nice and pronounced click to them. Of course, that’s helped further by the separately sprung panels for the LMB and RMB, giving them a nice tactile feedback. The mouse is great for gaming, it moves fast, tracks great thanks to its optical sensor, and isn’t overly complicated. While I generally like a lot more buttons for macros, for those who want a no-fuss FPS gaming mouse, it’ll certainly fit the bill.
As you can see in the few images so far, there’s some nice RGB lighting too, with the Aorus logo on the back being fully customisable to suit your taste. There’s also a small DPI indicator on the left front side, allowing you to check which setting is enabled at a glance.
Of course, if you want more than the default settings, you can easily use the Aorus software to customise each of the four DPI levels. Here you can also configure macros, lighting and more with ease.
You can also use the software to control any other Gigabyte hardware you own, such as your graphics card. This is great, as it means you’re not cluttering your desktop with multiple pieces of software.
Lighting can be adjusted using presets, or the RGB colour codes, and applied to multiple profiles, with effects, brightness and more.
Finally, the button layout can also be configured. There may not be a lot of buttons to customise, but it’s nice to have that option.
