AORUS XTREME RTX 2080 Graphics Card Review

Overclocking, Noise, Heat and Power
We’ve already proven that the AORUS XTREME RTX 2080 is an incredibly fast graphics card. However, even with a big factory overclock, manufacturers usually play it safe by not maxing out each card. We managed to get another +150 MHz on the GPU Boost clock easily enough. However, even going to 155 MHz resulted in a full system freeze rather than artefacts. Furthermore, the memory was happy to push higher, with +500 MHz proving stable.
The overclock took the RTX 2080 XTREME from the fastest RTX 2080 to the even-faster…est RTX 2080. It scored a staggering 29002 points in 3DMark Fire Strike, which is pretty much a punch in the face to the next fastest.

Acoustic Performance
The huge fans on this card are phenomenal too, and while they feature RGB lights, they’re more go than show. They’re completely silent at low load thanks to a zero RPM fan mode. Furthermore, even at full load, it was just 41 dBA, one of the quietest cards we’ve ever tested. We overclocked it, and honestly, it didn’t get any louder; very impressive!

Thermal Performance
The card hit 71c at both stock and overclocked values. That’s a bit of a weird one, given that the card didn’t spin its fans any louder while overclocked. To be honest, AORUS have really gone above and beyond here, flawless performance.

Power Consumption
The XTREME does use more power than its rivals RTX 2080 cards, but that’s to be expected. The card is faster, and you don’t get that performance for nothing; spoiler, it needs electricity.
