Overclocking

Z390 has proven to be one of the most consistent chipsets out there for performance, and even more so for overclocking. Our CPU is happy to overclock at 5 GHz in every motherboard we’ve had, and this one is no different. If we were using water cooling, maybe, just maybe, it would go higher. Either way, this motherboard was super stable, and booted the first time, every time, even once we’ve overclocked.

Scores

Overclocking had a profound impact on the performance of this motherboard, pushing it even higher up our performance charts. It took the 3DMark score from 23869 to 24430; our 5th fastest score to date! The WPrime score shed five seconds too, putting this motherboard in-line with other high-end motherboards. However, I’m most impressed with the CineBench score, which lept to 2206 on all cores, making it the 3rd highest score for any Z390 motherboard.

  • 3DMark – 24430
  • WPrime – 2.884/78.62
  • CineBench – 219/2206
  • Power Consumption – 50/205
  • Power Consumption OC – 65/272
