Unfortunately, I couldn’t find stock at the time of writing. DDR4 is seemingly always selling out fast and short on supply right now, resulting in higher than usual prices. For a memory kit of this speed and capacity, you’re easily looking at $100 per 8 GB, so little over $200 for the 16 GB kit is easily done.

Overview

There are so many fantastic memory kits on the market right now, or at least, there should be. It’s quite hard to find stock of anything right now, and even the Apacer kit was impossible to find. You could check tomorrow and find it, a day later again, it’ll be gone. So shop around for the best deals as much as you can. That being said, I’d really go the extra mile to find this kit if you’re building a new system. It’s one of the fastest kits we’ve ever tested, and if it’s like most Apacer stuff, it’ll be priced competitively when compared to the likes of Corsair and G.Skill.

Design

The gun design on these modules is fantastic, no doubt about that. Sure, it’s not going to appeal to everyone, but since it’s got a great design without the use of RGB lighting, it’s likely to be a little less expensive than some rival offerings of a similar specification. No lights also mean fewer things to go wrong, sometimes simplicity is a good thing.

Performance

The Commando didn’t deliver quite the results we hoped for in tasks like WPrime, but it didn’t seem to hurt the performance most consumers would want regardless. The same is true when overclocked, and some results got a little worse as a byproduct. However, when it came to 3DMark, Cinebench, and AIDA64 we saw some of our highest scores to date, and some of the fastest read, write and copy times we’ve had. Of course, even the latency was super low. When it comes to building a gaming rig, it’s packing the right stuff and would make a fantastic addition to any gaming system.
