Apacer‘s Commando series of SSDs and DDR4 memory all feature a gun-themed design. Their PT920 Commando PCIe SSD for example looks like a receiver from an automatic rifle. You can read the review of that drive here at eTeknix. And despite its odd appearance, it actually performed well with good endurance rating.
The Commando DDR4 line on the other hand takes cues from a picatinny rail for its heatspreader. The Commando DDR4 line itself has been available since several months ago, and we even reviewed the 3466MHz version here before. However, now Apacer is expanding the line to include faster DDR4-3600 kits. Furthermore, a tighter timing 3466MHz CL16 version will also be available soon. Initially, the fastest Commando DDR4 kit available was 3466MHz CL18.
The new 3466MHz kit runs at 16-18-36 with 1.35V. In comparison, the initial version runs at 18-18-42 at 1.35V. The new DDR4-3600 variant on the other hand runs at 17-19-39 at 1.35V. Naturally, both also are XMP 2.0 compliant which makes it really easy to load the presets on an Intel system.
The DDR4-3466 CL16 kit is available now for 254 EUR. On the other hand, the faster DDR4-3600 kit is available for quite a bit more at 379 EUR.
