Apparently the RX 580 is Still a Thing, as BIOSTAR Reveal a “New” White One

The AMD RX 580, was launched in April 2017 as a mid-range gaming card, Even though it’s over 7 years old, it continues to hold its own, providing decent 1080p gaming performance at a budget-friendly price. However, I didn’t realise brands were still making new versions of it… Until now. That being said, this card is even older than it looks, as it was a jacked-up RX 480. However, this longevity is a testament to its price-to-performance ratio. While incapable of handling the latest AAA titles at maxed-out settings (obviously), it seems there is still a market for this budget card.

What BIOSTAR had to say in their press release would make you think this was a modern GPU with killer hardware, but boy did I have to trim a lot of that out. Stuff like “Whether you’re a casual gamer enjoying games with friends or a mid-range enthusiast seeking engaging stories and solid gameplay, the Radeon RX 580 White is guaranteed to meet your needs and take your gaming experience to the next level.” and there’s no way the word mid-range or enthusiast belongs in their PR, this is rock bottom of the GPU mountain. But hey, at least it should be cheap, we think, as they forgot to include the price.

The BIOSTAR Radeon RX 580 White graphics card, which they say is “designed to deliver smooth 1080p gaming performance in a sleek, modern white aesthetic.” Obviously suited to casual gamers, those on a tighter budget, and well, a good mixture of those who are both of those things. The new white aesthetic isn’t going to change the world, but I think it’s a nice enough-looking card, and the compact size certainly has some appeal too.
