Apple brings Thunderbolt to iMac

Apple have today made some adjustments to its iMac range and as such have announced the first desktop system to be taking advantage of Intel’s Thunderbolt technology.

Prices however have not changed too dramatically and this new system will start from around £999 but Apple assure us it will be up to 70% faster than the old version of the iMac and provides at least 3* the graphical power than that of its predecessor.

Available in 21.5in (1,920×1,080) and 27in (2,560×1,440) models with a range of processors from Intel’s i5 and i7 -w
ith clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz (21.5in) and 3.4GHz (27in). Also incorporating AMD Radeon graphics, beginning from HD 6750M to HD 6970M.

Everything else has just been updated to bring itself in line with competitors and consumer expectations, for instance will include a 500 GB hard drive as standard but Apple will add up to capacities up to 2TB and even SSD choices are available. The RAM is a standard 4GB of DDR3 1,333 MHz but could be increased to a large 16GB!

Another small update is that Apple have added a FaceTime HD camera and as expected, the refreshed iMac comes with Mac OSX Snow Leopard and Apple’s iLife suite.
