Apple’s newly announced iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina may be stealing the headlines but arguably the most important announcement to emerge from their press event is that of another price drop on the iPad Mini. The iPad Mini has already been selling like hotcakes at its previous price of $329 but now it is being reduced to $299 and will undoubtedly sell even faster. Apple is making the iPad Mini 16GB WiFi model $30 cheaper in order to further distance it from the newly released iPad Mini Retina tablet.
At $299 the iPad Mini is still a hefty $70 more than Google’s Nexus 7 2013 Edition tablet which boasts dramatically better hardware specifications, yet that seemingly concerns few consumers when the brand loyalty towards Apple is so strong. No doubt the iPad Mini will end up being one of Apple’s best selling products of all time.
