Apple Lowers Price of Off-Warranty iPhone Battery Replacement

Apple recently came under fire after confirmation of iOS updates deliberately slowing down older phones. The company’s excuse is that the performance down clocking is necessary to preserve battery life. The older the phone is, the less charge it can hold. Therefore, a slower phone should be able to consume less power.
From their official statement, Apple states that they “would never — do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades. “
However, users do not find this answer satisfactory. If that truly is the case, then why has Apple kept it secret to begin with? The company seems determined to stick to their story and is now offering a solution to the problem.
Lower Cost Battery Replacement
As a solution, Apple is lowering the price of off-warranty battery replacement. Originally set at $79 USD, they are shaving off $50 so it is more affordable. Now users can get a battery replacement for iPhone 6 or later for just $29. This is good news considering a lot of users experiencing the slow downs are iPhone 6, 6S and 7 users considering an upgrade. This option will be starting in late January and available worldwide through December 2018.
