Apple Make iPhone Upgrade Program Available Online

If you want to make sure you have the latest and greatest of Apple’s iPhone devices, it is often an expensive proposition, with the handsets costing hundreds of dollars each and new handsets being released every year. Last year, Apple launched the iPhone Upgrade Program in the US, which, for a monthly fee, provided subscribers with a new iPhone handset every year and is considered as one of the best ways to get an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus. Despite this, the program was only made available for use directly through one of Apple’s stores which restricts access to it to those who can easily visit an Apple store. Now the program has been made available for online purchases too through Apple’s online shop.

Pricing for the program starts at $32.41 per month for the iPhone 6S, with the 6S Plus costing $36.58/month over a period of 24 months. For this price, you get an unlocked iPhone handset, AppleCare+ support and the opportunity to swap your handset for Apple’s newest offering every year, which resets the duration of your payments. This is obviously very similar to the common contract deals offered by network providers, however, these devices are often locked to a specific network and don’t include benefits beyond a handset and usage allowances.

Making this plan available online is a good move for Apple, as it should allow them to attract even more customers to the program who may wish for the convenience of online purchasing instead of requiring visits to Apple stores. Plus, it should let more customers upgrade their iPhones more often than they may do so otherwise if they had to buy them at full price or locked into a long carrier contract before they become eligible for a new handset.
