In a strange move, Apple has released a beta of iOS 8.3 to developers, before releasing iOS 8.2 to the public – a version that is still in beta too. While this is unprecedented, it’s believed this is largely down to iOS 8.2 being focused around the Apple Watch and will probably be released to coincide with the launch of that.
The new beta does contains some interesting additions though, such as big changes to Apple’s CarPlay in-car infotainment system. As you can see from the screenshot bellow, CarPlay will soon support wireless connectivity, making it easier to connect an iPhone to a car’s dashboard.
There’s also the addition of support for Google’s two-step verification as well as support for China UnionPay – a Chinese mobile payment system, suggesting that Apple Pay will be coming to China very soon. That is interesting, considering that Apple Pay has yet to be released anywhere other than the US.
iOS 8.3 is available for developers now, but as for the rest of us, we’re still yet to get iOS 8.2.
