Apple Sack Father of Vlogger Who Revealed iPhone X Details

Sorry, Dad, I’ve got you sacked from Apple!

As I understand it, Apple, as a technology company, take their security very seriously. As such, when a reasonably low-key Vlogger Brooke Amelia Peterson posted a video last week of the iPhone X people were unsure what to think.

At the time, I must confess, I thought it was fake. It sounded like the perfect click-bait claim towards YouTube notoriety. It turns out, however, that it was entirely true. Brooke Amelia Peterson’s father did, legitimately, work at Apple and as such, she had access to the iPhone X.

The temptation of having access to a highly sought after product clearly was too much for her and as such, osted a video detailing the phone. The phone was shown working and although she didn’t go into massive levels of details, it did enough to clearly show the phone. This, obviously, was not the reveal Apple wanted for their new product. Apple just a couple days prior was carefully managing the hype declaring stock was low. Such a video release was massively against the plan.

When the video was released on YouTube, it quickly escalated. So, clearly, in her mind at least, her decision had been warranted. With no disrespect to her, the channel was low-key prior, as such an exclusive was a massive boon. One in which most young people would have struggled to contain. What isn’t clear is whether her dad was aware of it or not, the chances are however doubtful.

It could be worse, she could’ve wrecked the car!

Following the video going viral, when Apple found out, a report via Yahoo suggests that they were not very happy. In fact, they were angered to the point that they have promptly sacked her dad from his job at Apple. They have likely dismissed him due to a clear breach of his (former) company data. Apple clearly saw this as a breach of trust, particularly at a time when sales figures were not overly positive.

Ms. Peterson has since deleted the video. Whether this was when her dad found out or Apple is unclear, but in a new video, she has hoped to set the record straight. She has, however, confirmed her father’s dismissal: “Apple let him go. At the end of the day when you work for Apple, it doesn’t matter how good of a person you are. If you break a rule, they just have no tolerance.”

Personally, I can understand that she is upset, but she should blame herself rather than anyone else. In my view, she decided to use an opportunity to help promote her thoroughly mediocre channel. Then again, I daresay had I been her age in her position, I would have likely have done the same.

In a new video (see below) she has tried to explain things, but largely places the blame entirely on Apple rather than what I feel is any genuine self-depreciative apology.
