Apple Sent out Invites for October 16 Event

It’s official, Apple has sent out invites to members of press for a special event at the Apple campus in Cupertino on October 16th. So that is the first of the many rumours confirmed, the date. As usual Apple didn’t reveal much in their invite and it doesn’t really say much of anything. “It’s been way to long” is the only message we get.
The rumours so far tell us that Apple will present the new 27-inch iMac with 5k Retina display as well as the new iPad Air 2. There have also been talk about a new iPad mini, but so far we haven’t heard much more than the name mentioned.
The new OS X Yosemite was first shown during Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference this summers and is scheduled for release this fall. It’s only a fair assumption that it will get its final presentation during the event and a public release shortly after.
Apple has also pledged to introduce Apple Pay for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this month and this could happen at this event as well. The NFC-based secure mobile payment service has also been rumoured for the new iPad Air 2, so it all kinda fits together.
For some time there were rumours about a new Mac Book Air with high-resolution Retina display being presented at this event. The latest leaks however point in the direction that the new Apple laptop has been postponed until Q1 2015.
So all in all, we have a lot of leaks, a lot of speculations and a date. One thing we can count on is, the closer we get to the event, the more leaks and information will become available.
