Since more and more people have been reporting random shutdowns on some iPhone 6s models, Apple has decided to replace the batteries on the devices in question. The company said that only a “limited serial number range” was affected by this issue, but just in case you own a device that was made between September and October 2015, you should probably head over to the nearest Apple store or authorized service provider to have your serial number checked. If you are eligible, you will receive a free replacement battery, but the really good news is that if you have already paid for a battery replacement using your own money, Apple will refund you for your trouble.
The battery replacement initiative comes just a few days after the company announced another offer meant to fix certain issues with iPhone 6 Plus devices. We’re talking about the problem with the unresponsive touchscreens on these devices, otherwise named “Touch Disease,” which would render them unusable if they were dropped onto a hard surface a few times. The problem, in this case, seems to be related to a series of chips that managed to come loose after the impact. However, it looks like Apple does charge its customers $149 to fix this particular program.
Apple has determined that a very small number of iPhone 6s devices may unexpectedly shut down. This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015.
If you have experienced this issue, please visit an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider and have your device’s serial number checked to confirm eligibility for a battery replacement, free of charge.

Additional Information
Apple may restrict or limit repair to the original country of purchase. For iPhone 5 devices purchased in EEA member countries, service is available in other EEA member countries.
If you believe your iPhone 6s was affected by this issue, and you paid to replace your battery, you can contact Apple about a refund.
This worldwide Apple program doesn’t extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone 6s.
The program covers affected iPhone 6s batteries for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit.
