Apple to Release Three New iPhones This Year?

Apple could release three new iPhone models this year, according to Apple Insider. The story comes courtesy of DigiTimes, which claims that three new Apple smartphones are coming during the second half of 2015: the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and the smaller iPhone 6C. Though, take the news with a pinch of salt, considering DigiTimes has a spotty record when it comes to breaking Apple news.

The report says that the 6S and 6S Plus will be powered by Apple’s new A9 chip, with the 6C carrying the older A8 chip.

Apple has previous form releasing upgraded and budget versions of its existing handsets using the ‘S’ and ‘C’ nomenclature, respectively, so the rumour at least sounds as though it could be true. It allows the company to keep its handsets updated without a complete hardware overhaul.

If the news is true, it shouldn’t be too long until it is confirmed.
