Apple TV Support Brings Tinder Dating App to the Living Room

Tinder is now available on Apple TV, bringing the somewhat controversial and somewhat misunderstood matchmaking slideshow to the living room to be enjoyed by the whole family just in time for the holidays. While the actual pairing of a television screen and the Tinder app itself might seem odd, Tinder CMO Ferrel McDonald sees the fit as natural and has launched several promotional videos showing different scenarios where this new hook-up hunting method might apply.

“For decades, the TV has been successfully ruling the living room and uniting family and friends, and we wanted to find a creative way for Tinder to be a part of that, from a Friday night of swiping with your friends, to Mom ogling your next Saturday night date, we wanted to showcase the many humorous, fun situations users will find themselves in when swiping on their Apple TV.” According to McDonald.
The controls are similar to the Tinder mobile app except using the touch-sensitive Siri remote: User’s swipe left to dislike, swipe right for like and swipe up for “super like”. Voice controls are unfortunately not supported. Although judging by their ad campaign, it seems they would rather people use their voice to turn the once solo hook-up hunting activity into a group affair. Encouraging even Nana to get in the mix.
