Apple Unaware of Users Affected by Masque Attack
Ryan Simmons / 10 years ago
Apple has responded to the claims iOS and OS X are susceptible to a vulnerability called Masque Attack. They say that they’ve not been aware of anyone affected by the attack and that the standard security measures present in those operating systems are sufficient to protect against it.
“We designed OS X and iOS with built-in security safeguards to help protect customers and warn them before installing potentially malicious software. We’re not aware of any customers that have actually been affected by this attack. We encourage customers to only download from trusted sources like the App Store and to pay attention to any warnings as they download apps. Enterprise users installing custom apps should install apps from their company’s secure website.”
Considering not too many people with iOS devices install custom apps, it seems not all that many users will be affected by this vulnerability.
