Apple has launched a major update to its iMac lineup, now equipped with the cutting-edge M4 chip and a slew of advanced features aimed at redefining personal computing. The new iMac comes with a 24-inch, 4.5K Retina display and is powered by Apple Intelligence, an AI-powered suite set to change how users work, connect, and create.
Revamped Power with M4 Chip
With the M4 chip, iMac promises significant performance upgrades over its predecessor. Apple says the iMac is “up to 1.7x faster” for tasks like multitasking, while gamers and content creators will experience “up to 2.1x faster” performance in intensive applications like Civilization VII and Adobe software. This speed boost, paired with a powerful Neural Engine, makes iMac “the world’s best all-in-one for AI,” handling complex AI tasks effortlessly.
John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, praised the transformation: “With M4 and Apple Intelligence, gorgeous new colors that pop in any space, an advanced 12MP Center Stage camera, and a new nano-texture glass display option, it’s a whole new era for iMac.”
Enhanced AI, Camera, and Connectivity
Apple Intelligence introduces AI tools that offer rephrasing, summarizing, and even image creation with features like Image Playground. Enhanced privacy through on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute ensures data protection. The new 12MP Center Stage camera includes Desk View, allowing users to show both their face and workspace—a feature designed with content creators and educators in mind.
New Colors and Environmentally-Friendly Design
Available in seven colors, from subtle silver to vibrant green, iMac brings a fresh, personalized aesthetic. Sustainability also plays a part, with a 100% recycled aluminum stand and fiber-based packaging.
Priced from $1,299, this sleek, ultra-thin device is available for pre-order today, with an official release on November 8.
