US news outlet CNN has named Tim Cook, the Chief Executive of Apple, as its ‘CEO of the Year’ for 2014. Over the last twelve months, Apple has enjoyed an upsurge in stock price and record-breaking sales with its iPhone 6 iteration, for which Cook has been rewarded.
CNN posits that Cook did “an amazing job” and cite the hype for the forthcoming Apple Watch next year as a major victory.
Cook has arguably the toughest CEO job in America. He’s had to convince skeptics that Apple can still innovate after the death of Steve Jobs. He’s proven all the naysayers wrong.
Cook has garnered a number of other accolades this year, including the Financial Times’ ‘Person of the Year’ 2014, and a nomination for TIME magazine’s 2014 ‘Person of the Year’, losing out to the Ebola Fighters.
