If you’ve got an Aqua Blue 3DS, you should probably take good care of it, because it’s a dying breed.
A discreet message on Nintendo’s official Japanese site confirms that Aqua Blue version of the portable is “scheduled to end production shortly”, according to Kotaku’s translation.
There’s no reason or timescale offered, but we can only assume that this will affect the colour’s availability in all regions.
Aqua Blue was one of two launch colors for 3DS, alongside the more mature-looking Cosmo Black.
There are currently six colours available in Japan; the aforementioned two along with Ice White, Misty Pink, Flare Red and the sexy Cobolt Blue (which we speculate may have killed off Aqua Blue sales).
Nintendo of America recently announced a new Midnight Purple 3DS for release in US on May 20.
