Arctic Accelero Xtreme 7970 VGA Cooler Review

The mounting process is quite important in determining how easy a product is to use. Arctic’s mounting system has always been quite sound and this continues with the Accelero Xtreme 7970. First up for the mounting you must attach the white spacers to the GPU mounting bracket using the provided double sided adhesive rings.
Next you must use the provided black square of EVA foam and the black spacers with double sided adhesive rings to mount the backplate onto. This is necessary as the EVA foam prevents any short circuiting that might occur if the metal backplate touches the PCB components. They must be placed onto the rear of the card as shown below.
With those in place you can then put the backplate on and screw through into the mounting bracket on the other side.
Those screws will then connect the backplate to the mounting bracket (which should be attached to the Accelero Xtreme 7970 cooler when you do this, we have left that off for the purposes of being able to show you how it works) as pictured below:
Other components get cooled too. In order to cool the VRM circuitry with the provided passive heat sinks you must first install the provided plastic strips to prevent any short circuiting that might occur.
