AcousticsWhile situated in a room where background noise was kept to a minimum, we placed the sound level meter equal distances from our test system to measure the total noise output by the complete test system for each test configuration.

The idle noise levels for each configuration were surprisingly good and non-intrusive. The Twin Turbo Pro really shines when the noise it outputs barely increases even though the fans are spinning much faster. Arctic Cooling made a very good decision with the choice of fans to supply as they are just under 10dbA quieter than the stock HD 4870 heatsink under load conditions.

We were very surprised to see that adding a second card equipped with a Twin Turbo pro heatsink didn’t raise the noise output by a significant amount. An easy 9.9dbA victory was recorded for the Twin Turbo Pro heatsinks.
