Now it’s that time to open things up, as this certainly has a unique concept with a complete passive design. Inside we find a custom sized motherboard with plenty of ventilation and space to breathe. A lot of the components include small aluminium heatsinks to provide extra assistance to keeping the internals temperature to a minimum. We can also see the optional TV tuner card situated in the top left.
Inside the unit, things are quite compact but nicely laid out. Towards the front we find the relevant card reader and front panel connectors directly soldered to the PCB.
Memory wise we find two 2GB SODIMM modules running at DDR3 1333MHz with timings of 9-9-9-24 and are manufactured by Team Group.
Towards the top of the unit is a large heatsink which covers over the CPU and GPU with a copper heatpipe and aluminium fin design to give the best possible cooling to the most vital components.
Turning the unit over, we find the 500GB 7200RPM mechanical hard drive, though we would have much preferred the SSD they supply in other models.
